Jean Boyer's Obituary
Norma Jean Boyer "Jean" 91, of Fort Myers, FL formerly of Crete, IL and Homewood, IL
peacefully passed away on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, FL.
A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 109 N. Oak St, Buckley, IL 60918 Committal Service will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour before the memorial service at 11:00 a.m., also at the church.
Jean was born on January 3, 1933 in Buckley, IL to Arthur and Frieda (Kuester) Blanck. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buckley. She married John R. Boyer on January 30, 1954.
She is survived by children and spouses, son John R. Boyer, Jr. (Rita) of Houston, TX; daughter Susan Little (late Bob Little) of Bonita Springs, FL; daughter Kathy (Dan) Griffin of Crete, IL.; Six grandchildren, John R. Boyer III (Nicky), Heather Boyer, Jonathon Little, Danny Griffin, Tyler (Breezy Burke-Eastin) Griffin, Shane (Samantha Bruns) Griffin; One precious great-grandson, Wyatt Boyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Alice Vest and Irene Hilligoss, and her ex-husband.
Jean retired from Illinois Bell in 1994 and then was able to spend more time serving her church. She was a long time member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Crete, IL and Salem Lutheran Church in Homewood, IL. Her passion was always to bring as many people to Christ as she possibly could in her lifetime. After moving to Florida in 2016, she attended Hope Lutheran Church in Bonita Springs when her health permitted.
She loved to listen to Moody Radio, take walks, play cards, and play bingo. She really loved ice cream, lobster, and red roses. She particularly enjoyed her birthday parties when her whole family would get together to celebrate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
