Jean D Hinman's Obituary
Jean D. Hinman, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 13, 2021 in Punta Gorda, Florida.
Jean was born on January 29, 1926 in Arcadia, Florida, but grew up in Ithaca, New York. Jean was the daughter of Guy and Ruth (Mead) Davis. A graduate of Cornell University, Jean also served in the US Army, being honorably discharged in 1952.
She and her husband, Arthur, married on July 29, 1950 in Ithaca, NY and moved to Oneida NY in 1951. In addition to raising three children and working full-time, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oneida, and also active in The Order of The Eastern Star and the Oneida Civic Chorale. She retired from the state of New York after having been employed as Head Dietitian at the Rome Developmental Center. She and Arthur moved to Hummelstown, PA in 1987, spending most of their winters in Punta Gorda, FL until their permanent move there in 2006. Jean was known for her many musical talents such as singing, and playing multiple instruments - the violin, organ, and piano. Jean was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda. She was an avid bingo player and also enjoyed knitting in her spare time.
Jean was preceded in passing by her beloved husband of 61 years Arthur (2012).
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children; Pamela Zalenski (Jeffrey), Anita Loveland (Thomas), and Brian Hinman (Nemoria); her grandchildren Jason (Elise) Zalenski, Brianne (Ryan) Nunnelley, Nick (Melissa) Hinman, Sarah Loveland, and Michael (Lindy) Loveland; and her great- grandchildren Katie, Tyler, Eden, Landry, Bronwyn, Amauta, William and Emma.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
