Jean Parnell Miller's Obituary
Jean Parnell Miller, 91, of North Fort Myers and formerly from Rochester, NY, passed away peacefully on December 23,2019.
Jean was a ray of sunshine who brought love, laughter, joy and happiness to everyone who knew her. Married to the love of her life, Francis Miller, Jr. for 65 years, who preceded her in death in September 2016, Jean taught 1st grade for many years in Penfield, NY. Known for her endless creativity and zest for life, Jean loved hosting family celebrations and entertaining her extensive circle of friends. One of the joys of her life was overseeing the annual Parnell Family Reunion, which celebrated its 105th year in 2019. She enjoyed spending time with her family, singing around the campfire at the family cottage on Lake Ontario, savoring the breathtaking view from her condo overlooking the Caloosahatchee River, swimming, painting, reading, playing the banjo, and performing with the dance group, ‘Steps in Time’. Jean lived her life to the fullest but she never stopped giving back to the community. In her retirement years she built houses with Habitat for Humanity, served meals at the Community Cooperative Soup Kitchen, tutored students at Edison Park Elementary, and volunteered at the Stars Complex.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Kim Miller of Bradenton, Lynne Burrier (Rick) of Ft. Myers, grandchildren Brent McDill and Cindi Wicks (Joel), great-grandson Bryce Miller Wicks, and sister-in-law Joan Miller of Bergen, NY. Jean will be dearly missed by all who knew & loved her. A private family memorial service is planned with interment at FMM Gardens. Cards can be sent to Jean’s address in North Ft. Myers. No flowers please.
