Jeanne Anne Johnson's Obituary
Jeanne Anne Johnson, 87, of Fort Myers, Florida, entered eternal rest on January 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on July 15, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of the late George and June (Willert) Crooks. Of deep Lutheran faith, Jeanne lived a life of compassion, service, and unwavering strength.
Jeanne began her life’s journey in Michigan and later earned her Bachelor of Science in Education, with a minor in Psychology, from Eastern Michigan University in 1977. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1979, yet she faced every challenge with remarkable grace and determination. In 1983, Jeanne moved from Michigan, to Fort Myers, a community she would serve and enrich for the rest of her life.
Throughout her career and into retirement in 2002, Jeanne devoted herself to helping others. She was a tireless advocate for individuals with disabilities and a vibrant leader within the Multiple Sclerosis community. She served as: President of the Board of Directors for the Mayor’s Alliance; Support Group Chairperson for the Multiple Sclerosis Society; Former Board Member for the Southwest Florida Chapter of the MS Society; Member of the Supportive Housing Committee for Persons with Disabilities; and a Volunteer teacher with the Literacy Volunteers of America.
Her passion for education, service, and community uplift left a lasting impact on countless lives through public involvement as delegate to the International Convention of People with Disabilities; organizer/presenter for Disability Awareness for election workers, SW Florida Regional airport staff and the SW Florida Hospitality and Tourism industry.
Jeanne also embraced adventure, traveling the world extensively, never letting her disability get in the way. She lived with her husband in Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and England and enjoyed trips all over Europe, the Mediterranean region, the Far East, as well as the Caribbean - experiences she cherished and often reflected on with joy.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Laura Pearl, and her husband, Paul Ehrnfelt, of Fort Myers; her daughter in law, Bernadette Pearl of Fort Myers; her brother, James Crooks, and his wife, Kristin, of Lansing, Michigan; and her sister, Janice Smith, of West Palm Beach, Florida. Jeanne was the proud grandmother of Kevin Pearl, of Burbank, California; Gina (Justin) Pack, of Dodge City, Kansas; Gabby (Jared) Williams, of Fort Myers, and Sean Pearl, of Fort Myers and the adoring great-grandmother of Travis, Audrey, and Roslynn Pack, of Dodge City, Kansas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who dearly loved her. Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved son, Greg Pearl, as well as her three husbands: Rod Pearl, Dan Uman, and Ron Johnson.
Jeanne will be remembered for her courage, intelligence, faith, and the deep compassion she showed to everyone she encountered. Her legacy of service and love will continue to live on in all who knew her.
The inurnment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to Health Park Hope Hospice in Jeanne’s honor.
