Jennifer E. Burnham's Obituary
Jennifer Ellen Norris Burnham, a true Renaissance woman, enjoyed and explored life in many ways and shared her knowledge, wit and resources with many two – footed friends and relatives and with many four-footed friends, mostly dogs – especially Nicky and Scout. Jen earned a BA at Wake Forest University, an MA at The University of Chicago, and an MBA at Tennessee Technological University. Her careers included computer coding, journalism, police dispatch and creation of Kumihimo jewelry. An avid reader and film critic, she could recite passages from all the good ones and many of the bad ones. At one point, she took up flying and soloed. Once. Many will miss her, especially her dear friend Elain Jett; her father John Burnham; and siblings Leslie DiMartino, Nancy George and Susan Hughes; nieces and nephews Carrie and Michelle Di Martino, Sheldon Ricketts, Amy and Stephen Hughes; aunt Mary Anne Hill, Uncles Wake Browser and George Roberts. Cousins by the dozens include David, Andrew and Matthew Hill; Wayland, Jennifer and Elizabeth (Buffy) Bowser; and Canadian Cousins Mike Shipley, Carol Moller, Sheila Lister and David Shipley. Jenny built friendships wherever she was. In Fort Myers, she will be mourned and Elaine will be supported by Diana Jacklen, Ronnie MacPherson and Renny Severance, Barbara Chappel and Sally Sartain Jane. A private memorial service will be arranged at a later date. Memorial contributions in Jenny’s honor the The Animal Refuge Center in Fort Myers (18011 Old Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers, FL 33917). Your local SPCA or to a charity of your choice are welcomed. Online condolences and memories may be shared on her tribute page at www.fortmyersmemorial.com
