Jerome "Jerry" Lee Snyderman's Obituary
Jerome "Jerry" Lee Snyderman, 86, of Fort Myers, FL passed away on April 30, 2025...surrounded with
love by his family.
Jerry was born June 17, 1938, to Bernard and Selma (Taschner) Snyderman in Philadelphia, PA. Always working, upon moving to Lakewood, NJ at the age of 14 (1952), he joined his parents in the family business, Central Shoes. As the “new boy in town”, he was quickly noticed and scooped up by Barbara (Silver) and their 72-year love story began. As high school sweethearts, they were married in 1956, on Christmas Day, when he was on leave from the Army. After basic training at Fort Gordon-Augusta GA, he was sent to South Korea, followed by Fort Monmouth-NJ, as a radio technician in the Signal Corps over the span of 3 years.
During his life in Lakewood, he was involved in horse racing both owning and enjoying the track. Sundays were spent boating, both leisurely family time and often fishing. Due to his love of boating and golf, they moved to sunny Ft. Myers, FL in 1977, where these hobbies could be enjoyed year-round. A house on the water, with the boat in the backyard was an accomplishment he cherished. After involvement in real estate ventures, Jerry realized the need for a good shoe store in town and the Snyderman’s Shoes era began, with brother Bob and son Rick. That wasn’t enough for this busy man, he added Captiva Inn Restaurant with son Evan, and Sasse’s Restaurant to his years. His passion for food and wine was a constant. Following retirement from all, Jerry kept busy always, it was the only way he knew. A full life filled with golf, boating, cruises, time shares in Spain, North Carolina and Mexico, and countless friends made along the way...he added charity work with Special Equestrians, Child Care of SW Florida, Nations Association, amongst others. Most importantly, he shared a wonderful life and took care of his wife, Barbara, forever and always.
Jerry is survived by his beautiful wife Barbara (Silver) Snyderman, sister Noreen Davis (Alan), brother Bob Snyderman (Laury), sons Richard “Rick” Snyderman (Gerianne) and Evan Snyderman (Eryn), daughter Robin Snyderman (David), grandchildren Brynn Drew (Ethan), Spencer Snyderman (Jennifer), Brooke Harris (Shawn), Samantha Snyderman, step grandchildren Olivia and Julia Loreaux, Gina Serrano (Eddie), Joey Mazzant (Jemma), Anthony Mazzant (Tiffany), great grandchildren Ellie Harris, Bryce Serrano, and Mitchell Mazzant, and special cousins Ronny and Marie Taschner and their children.
Jerry's family has entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Gardens with the tender care of his final arrangements. There will be a gathering for Jerry on May 14, 2025, at 9AM with a funeral service beginning at 10AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Special Equestrians (PO Box 61528, Ft. Myers FL 33906) or Child Care of SW Florida (6831 Palisades Park Ct. Suite 6, Ft. Myers FL 33912).
