Jerry H. McCullough's Obituary
Jerry H. McCullough of the Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 29, 2022 following some recent health challenges. He was 82 years old.
Jerry was born on November 4, 1939 in Millville, New Jersey and was the proud son to Pearl (Stern) and William H. McCullough. He was the loving husband to Barbara "Betsy" Leah (Guest) McCullough whom he leaves to cherish his memory. Jerry also leaves behind his beloved children, son Jon McCullough (Spouse: Katie Cook,) daughter: Susan McCullough (Spouse: Rob Hodder;) grandchildren: Leah Hodder, Casey McCullough, Jordon Hodder, Adam McCullough, Ryan Cook, and Sean Cook; great grandchildren: Juliet Kruzinski; siblings: James McCullough and his wife Pam, Janet Todd survived by her husband James
Jerry also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a number of extended family members and a great many others who were proud to call him a friend. He will always be warmly remembered and fondly missed.
Sadly, Jerry was preceded in death by his parents: William H. McCullough and Pearl M. Stern; his brother William (Norma); and his sister Janet Todd.
Jerry spent his working life with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for over 40 years in underwriting and sales management. His career began in Philadelphia and took him and his family to Dallas, Boston, Long Island, Pittsburgh and Minneapolis before settling in State College, PA and Fort Myers, FL in retirement.
He received his Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University - Camden where he studied business and mathematics.

Still shares the record for most hits in a game (6). Two others needed 7 at bats while Dad was 6 for 6.

Coached basketball, baseball, and soccer
In retirement was a volunteer manager for the women’s volleyball team at Penn State
Drove a limo in Ft. Myers, enjoying the places he would go and the people he would meet.
Dosen at Penn State All-Sports Museum
Self-described team player which fits with his role of point guard for the Rutgers-Camden team.
Loved spending time with family especially attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting/extracurricular events over the years.
Tailgating over 30 years at Penn State Football games bringing friends and family together from near and far.
Volunteer experiences at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church on Sanibel Island (insurance, church bus, etc.)
Enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach. Also, enjoyed cruises and visiting international destinations.
Always maintained a positive outlook on life and was quick to share a smile and engage with anyone he came across.
Jerry was a devoted husband for 62 years, father and grandfather. He took great pride in raising a family and seeing them grow and parent themselves. He was a life-long learner as evidenced by the courses he completed at Penn State and The Academy of Life Long Learning at Shell Point during retirement.
He also liked the fun part of learning and challenge as a trivia buff and bridge enthusiast.
Immediate funeral services are private.
Due to the unforeseen circumstances of Hurricane Ian a celebration of life will be forthcoming within the next 6 months.
