Jim G. Lee's Obituary
Jim G. Lee of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully at home on Saturday Feb. 20, 2016, two days short of his 96th birthday. He was the best example of living the American Dream. A recent immigrant from China, Jim spent the WWII years building war planes at Boeing in Seattle, where he met and married the love of his life Donaldina (Dolly) Cameron Wong. Married for nearly 70 years, Jim and Dolly spent nearly every hour of every day together; initially, working and living behind their Harlem, New York grocery store, raising their three sons Jeff, Doug and Jim Jr. in the Bronx, operating successful restaurants in N.J. and finally retiring to Fort Myers Fl.Jim spent his retirement years with Dolly tending their beloved orange and lychee trees behind their lakefront home. He was the adored grandfather of five grandchildren and three great grandchildren who called him Tai Yeh Yeh. Jeff’s family is forever grateful for the gift of spending this past Christmas in Charlotte with Tai Yeh Yeh and Tai Grandma (Dolly) surrounded by their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Up until the end, Jim led a vigorous, robust life on his own terms. No wonder many of his friends nicknamed him “Lucky”.Jim is survived by his loving wife, Dolly; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Betty of Charlotte NC, son, Doug of Fort Lauderdale Fl and son, Jim Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fl. Grandchildren include, Jennifer and her husband Lance, Jeff Jr. and his wife, Kate, Rachel, Christina, Cady and Jimmy. Great grandchildren are Aston, Stellyn and Logan. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews all of whom are in the USA because of Jim’s efforts to bring his two brothers and sister to the America many years ago.Dolly and her family want to offer special thanks to Francine Flakes, Jim and Dolly’s principal caregiver for her dedication and service to Jim.A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 27, 2016 inside the Chapel of Memories located on the grounds of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
