Joan Morrissey Reese's Obituary
Beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother Joan Morrissey Reese passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on May 14. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gunther Reese, 4 children: son James Arthur Reese and his wife Janet, daughter Carol Reese Tomaselli and her husband Pete, daughter Michelle Reese Andrew and her husband Phil, daughter Danielle Reese Allenbach and her husband Michael, and 12 grandchildren who she called, “incredible!” Joan was 83 years old. She was a member of McGregor Baptist Church in Ft. Myers, Florida and was a life-long believer in faith and family. Joan was born in New York and orphaned after birth. She met her husband Gunther as a teenager and they were married when Joan was 20. She spent a lifetime creating the family she had always wanted. She was unconditionally loving, generous, and kind. We believe she is with her Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Corinthians 4:18
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
A celebration of life will be held when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted. The family will organize two events: one in Fort Myers and the other in the Chicago area where Joan and Gunther resided in the summer months and where they raised their family.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.
