Joan A. Stevenson's Obituary
Joan A. Stevenson of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away following a lengthy illness on Sunday, May 29, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was 73 years old.Joan was born on May 10, 1943 in Camden, New Jersey, the beautiful daughter of Alice R. (Hoskins) and Dale Bendler. She was a very active and outgoing person who enjoyed games and competition. She was an avid tennis player, a lover of swimming and somebody who bowled with serious enthusiasm. Joan was the owner and operator of a craft store in New Jersey before relocating to Florida. She loved to travel and was a published author of children’s stories. Joan was very generous with her time and talent and was a regular volunteer with the Big Sisters. She was a regular member of the congregation at First Assembly of God Church in Fort Myers.Joan leaves to cherish her memory her beloved sister Dian Thompson; two loving nieces Theresa Thompson and Nancy Cattanea; several cousins in New Jersey and her very dear friend Ferris “Duffy” Wilcox. She also leaves behind her seven loving Stevenson stepchildren, many extended family members, a multitude of friends and the many members of her church congregation who are saddened by the loss of her company.A Memorial Service for Joan will be celebrated by Pastor Phyllis Lefort at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 2, 2016 inside the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555.
