Joanne Joyce Powell's Obituary
Joanne Joyce Powell, 87, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026. She was born on June 28, 1938, in Melrose Park, Illinois, to the late Raymond and Thelma (Mason) Wiehle.
Joanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother whose life was centered around family and steadfast love. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Hilbur “Hap” Powell, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and enduring companionship.
She is survived by her loving sons, Robert Powell and his wife Noreen of Bella Vista, Arkansas, and Michael Powell of Lochbuie, Colorado. Joanne was the proud grandmother of Stephanie Unger and her husband Timothy, Jonathan Powell and his wife Justyne, and Katelyn Powell. Her legacy continues through her seven great‑grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life: Noah, Wyatt, Zoey, Chase, Grayson, Madelyn, and Jaxson.
A funeral service celebrating Joanne’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, located at 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, FL 33907. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
