John Michael Beninati's Obituary
John Michael Beninati, 86, of North Fort Myers, died on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Hope Hospice House in Cape Coral. Memorial services will be 12 noon Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. Inurnment will be at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Field of Honor. Memorials: In honor of John’s wife, Elisabeth, Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society. John was born July 2, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Eliseo and Mary (Mendola) Beninati. While serving in the Army in Stuttgart, Germany, he met the love of his life, Elisabeth Hoffacker. In 1953 they married at St. Audomar Church in Elisabeth’s hometown of Frechen, Germany. Together they relocated to the United States, where they remained until her passing in 2005. He worked for many years as an owner operator of a retail sales business. He was a member of the Catholic Church and he enjoyed living in Florida. He loved all sports especially baseball. Surviving are his children John Frank Beninati and his wife Christine of Westport, CT, Diana Koller and her husband Kevin of New Paltz, NY; brother, Frank Beninati and his wife Rosemary of Staten Island, NY; and four grandchildren, Sarah Koller, Madisen Koller, Sophia Beninati and Ava Beninati.
