John William Chase's Obituary
John William Chase, Sr., age 81, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Born January 26, 1939, in Bellevue, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clifford Chase and Clara Hayes (Sowers, Artino).
His sister, Betty Mae Spalding (Tibbles, Goss, Chase), preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife: Betty Molina of Cape Coral, Florida; one brother: Bill Sowers (Jill) of Bellevue, Ohio; and one sister Kathy Sowers of Cincinnati, Ohio; first-wife Judena Chase of Pataskala, Ohio; four children: John William Chase Jr. of Pataskala, Ohio; Liesa Chase (Robert Wehner) of Fairborn, Ohio; Clara Eileen Lawson (Dennis) of Pataskala, Ohio; Linda Chase (Lawrence Holt) of Punta Gorda, Florida; step-son Joe Carlo of Fort Myers, Florida; along with 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends; and his beloved dog, Bella.
John valued family. He loved being by the water and dancing at the Italian American Club. In his younger years, John was a sportsman, playing football, softball, bowling and fishing. He enjoyed boating and camping. For years, John was an equipment maintenance man at Western Electric (Lucent Technologies) in Columbus, Ohio. He retired in 1996. He lived in both Ohio and Florida until he became a year-round resident of Florida in 1999.
Arrangements are being made through Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the Bellevue Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to the Abiding Love Lutheran Church in Cape Coral, Florida.
