John Rudolf Dymke's Obituary
John Rudolf Dymke of Cape Coral, Florida passed away peacefully, though unexpectedly, on Friday, May 3, 2019. He was 80 years old.John was born on April 19, 1939 in Breslau, Germany, the proud son of Anna Pauline (Lindner) and Max Dymke. After coming to the United States at the young age of 18, John joined the United States Army and proudly served and defended his adopted home in many foreign operational bases such as Korea and Vietnam. John was well-suited to military life and decided to make it his career. He focused on law enforcement and joined the Military Police where he received advanced training in criminal investigations and administration, even graduating from the University Of Nebraska at Omaha with a degree in Criminal Justice. John was promoted several times during his career in the United States Army before retiring in 1985 at the rank of Major following more than 20 years of honorable military service. He never forgot those he served with throughout the years and especially enjoyed the reunions held by his class at the U.S. Army Infantry Officer Candidate School 5-68. John was also a regular supporter of causes to help current and former service members and believed it to be a sacred duty for those who wore the uniform to make sure that each and every fellow service member is taken care of.John leaves behind his loving wife Anita B. (Wittenbauer) Dymke of Cape Coral; his son Christian Dymke and wife Andrea Dymke and grandson Constantin Dymke all of Germany.A Graveside Service to honor John and celebrate his life will take place at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the Field of Honor Section of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. Military Honors recognizing John’s contributions to support and defend our nation will be rendered by the United States Army.In lieu of flowers, the family instead suggests that donations in memory of John be provided to help soldiers in need.
