Rev. John Vincent Izzo's Obituary
Reverend John Vincent Izzo, Jr., born July 9, 1932, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on February 27, 2026, at the age of 93. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, minister, veteran, and friend, John lived a life marked by unwavering faith, humility, and a deep love for others.
Born to John Izzo, Sr. and Rose (Liberi) Izzo, John grew up in a close and loving family alongside his three sisters: Arlene Cassel and Anita Nyari, both of whom preceded him in death, and Jessica Longo, who survives him. Jessica’s husband, Felix, also preceded John in death. His upbringing shaped the values that guided him throughout his life: devotion to God, loyalty to family, and a servant’s heart.
John graduated from Temple University and began his professional career as a chemist, working for Rohm and Haas, where he built a respected and successful career. After retiring from chemistry, John followed a deeper calling. He continued his education at the Philadelphia College of Bible, where he became an ordained minister, dedicating the rest of his life to ministry and service.
John faithfully served at Davisville Baptist Church, where he preached, taught, and ministered as an assistant pastor. He was known for his gentle spirit, his steady leadership, and his weekly role in collecting the offering—an act he performed with reverence and joy. His ministry touched countless lives, and his love for the Lord was evident in everything he did.
John proudly served his country in the Korean War and remained a lifelong supporter of veterans, carrying deep respect for those who served.
John shared more than 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife Ann, who preceded him in death. Their marriage was a testimony of love, partnership, and unwavering faith. After retirement, John and Ann moved to Florida, where they enjoyed many joyful years in the Cinnamon Cove community. There, John founded and led a home church, hosting prayer meetings and worship services that became a spiritual home for many. Their home was always open, warm, and filled with fellowship.
He is survived by his two sons, Mark (Darlene) and Brian (Jackie), who were the pride of his life. John was also the loving grandfather of Stephanie Lynn Izzo, Mark and Darlene’s daughter, who preceded him in death and held a special place in his heart as his only granddaughter. He also leaves behind his sister Jessica, many nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of family and friends who loved him dearly.
After Hurricane Ian, John relocated to Naples, where he continued to live until his passing. In his later years, he found deep friendship with Nick and Nancy Turner, and he cherished his church family at Oasis Church. John especially loved spending time at the Naples Beach,
attending church outings, and enjoying fellowship with those around him. His final years were filled with peace, friendship, and the joy of worship.
A celebration of John’s life will be led by Officiant Michael McKeller, honoring his faith, his service, and the legacy he leaves behind.
John’s life was marked by unwavering faith, quiet strength, and a heart devoted to serving others. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched through his ministry, his kindness, and his love for the Lord. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
