John F. "Jack" Berry's Obituary
John F. “Jack” Berry of Cape Coral, Florida and formerly of St. Paul, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016 in Cape Coral, Florida. He was 85. Jack was born October 8, 1930 in St. Paul, Minnesota to the late John F. and Mary C. Berry. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – River Falls, his Master’s degree from the University of Minnesota and a degree of Specialist in Education from St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. He was a school teacher in the St. Paul School System from 1969 until his retirement in 1992. At that time he and his whole family moved to resettle in sunny Cape Coral. Jack was devoted to his family and loved time spent together, especially time with his two grandsons. He enjoyed cooking, painting and spending time outdoors working on his landscaping. Jack was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife of 63+ years, Lila L. Berry; his two daughters, Lee E. Bouthillette and her husband Marc S. and Lynn M. Mahr and her husband Nicholas C. He is also survived by his brother, James Martin Berry and his wife Mary of St. Paul, Minnesota; his two grandsons, Mark Alan Stahl and John Michael Stahl as well as many nieces and nephews. Jack was always the consummate gentleman. He had a kind heart and gentle soul and rarely had a critical word for anyone. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed. A Visitation will be conducted from 5:00 – 9:00 PM on Sunday, January 31, 2016 in the Chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM the following day, Monday, February 1, 2016 at Saint Andrew Catholic Church, 2628 Del Prado Boulevard, Cape Coral, Florida 33904. At the conclusion of the church service, friends and family will proceed to Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fort Myers where Mr. Berry will be laid to rest.
