John Richard King's Obituary
Mr. John R. “Jack” King of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Gulf Coast Medical Center after some recent health challenges. He was 84. Jack was born May 27, 1933 in Warwick, Rhode Island, the proud son of James and Marjorie King. He proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War from November 16, 1951 until his honorable discharge November 22, 1955. He attained the rank of Airman, Second Class and earned the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. He spent his career as a Hospital Maintenance Engineer. Jack was a member and regularly attended services and Sunday school at McGregor Baptist Church, Fort Myers, Florida. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his companion and best friend of 13+ years, Mary Celmo; his daughter, Terri Jo Carlson, his niece Kathy and many friends. A memorial service, a celebration of Jack’s life and Military Honors presented by the United States Air Force, will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 12, 2017 inside the chapel at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, friends will be received for an hour preceding this ceremony beginning at 5:00 p.m. also inside the funeral home chapel.
