John L. Maynard's Obituary
John L. Maynard, Jr., 91 years of age, of North Fort Myers, Florida passed away on July 19, 2013 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida. Mr. Maynard was born on December 6, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of the late John Levi Maynard and Ethel May Hodge Maynard and was one of eight children. Mr. Maynard was a retired Union Electrician for over 35 years. He was a jack of all trades able to fix almost anything. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from June 21, 1943 until his honorable discharge on November 22, 1945. He was awarded a Bronze Star and a Good Conduct Medal for his service in Rhineland. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 37 years, Ruth R. Maynard of North Fort Myers, Florida; his children, Richard (Barbara) Maynard and Donna Allen both of St. Louis, Missouri; his step-son, Kenneth (Lillian) Hieland of St. Louis, Missouri: seven grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren: A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Guiding Light Community Church, 1360 Touchtone Road, North Fort Myers, Florida 33903.
