John Mercora's Obituary
John Mercora of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017 in Healthpark Medical Center of Fort Myers after some recent health challenges. He was 84.John was born April 12, 1933 in the Bronx, New York; the beloved son of the late Pasquale and Jennie Mercora. He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, worked his professional career in the wholesale grocery business and was also a life-long member of the Catholic Church. His passion, however, was his family – devoting his time as a loving husband, devoted father, dear brother and beloved “Gramps”. He will be sorely missed.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Chris Mercora. John is survived by his loving wife of 62+ years, Christina Mercora and their three children, Patricia Cangialosi (Sal), Ralph Mercora and Robert Mercora. He is the dear brother of Dick Mercora and Joseph Mercora. He is also the beloved Gramps of three grandchildren, Vincent (Candice), John (Courtney) and Michael (Erica) and four great grandchildren, Gabriella, Gianna, Anthony and Natalie.Visitation will be held 6pm until 9pm Thursday, October 26, 2017 in the chapel of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Friday, October 27, 2017 at St. Katharine Drexel Parish 1922 SW 25th Avenue, Cape Coral, Florida 33991. Immediately following mass, he will be entombed in the Field of Honor Mausoleum with military honors at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Myers, Florida.
