John "Michael" Metzgar's Obituary
John "Michael" Metzgar Jr., 85, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2024. Michael was born September 18, 1938 in Richmond, Virgina.
Michael ("Mike" to his friends), served in the U.S. Army Reserves and then worked for many years as a Cartographer with the United States Geological Survey in Reston, Virgina. While he was with the Geological Survey, he had the honor of spending a year at the South Pole Station. Later, he moved his family to Costa Mesa, CA to join his Father's company, Pinseeker Golf Corporation. When Mike retired, he and Evelyn moved to Prescott, AZ to enjoy the Arizona lifestyle and all it had to provide. Mike and Evelyn settled in Fort Myers, Florida in 2006.
Michael is preceded in passing by his parents Victoria (Vranian) Metzgar and Mike Metzgar Sr.
Michael leaves his loving memory with his cherished survivor's wife of 62 years Evelyn, his children, Douglas (Suzanne) Metzgar, Laura (Patrick) Leslie, and his grandchildren, Rachael & Rebecca Metzgar and Hayden & Cole Leslie.
Michael's family has entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Gardens with the tender care of his final arrangements. At his request, all services will be private.
