John Micenko Sr.'s Obituary
John “Jack” Micenko Sr., 86, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday April 30, 2025. He was born in Pittsburgh PA on May 25, 1938, the son of John and Margaret (Spann) Micenko.
Jack graduated from Homestead High School Class of 1956 and served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. Over the course of his professional career, he earned multiple Graduate and Executive certifications in banking from schools including the University of Georgia, University of Connecticut, and University of Indiana.
On June 12, 1973, he married Janet Bernice Sholtis.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife Janet are his children; John “Jack” Micenko Jr. (Ellen) of Miami Beach FL and Jason Micenko (Pauline) of Chicago IL and his grandchildren; Olivia and Caroline Micenko. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Micenko.
Jack spent his entire 40-year career in banking with Great American Federal Savings and Loan, initially starting out as a branch teller and working his way to ultimately become President, CEO and Director.
After retiring, Jack and Janet relocated to Ft Myers FL where they have been residents and members of the Gulf Harbour Yacht and Country Club for over 25 years. As a faithful member of St Columbkille Catholic Church, Jack volunteered and donated to a number of causes across Southwest Florida.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation in his honor on Monday, May 5, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until a Liturgy of the Word at 11:45 a.m. Burial to follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
