John F Miller's Obituary
John F. Miller, 81, a longtime Florida resident, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Fort Myers, FL. He was born June 18, 1942 in Hartford, CT to the late Fred and (Mary Elizabeth (nee Taylor) Miller.
John and Carol met when they were 13 when they both moved to Mt. Prospect, IL. He graduated from Grinnell College. He pursued his career in marketing and management with the 3M Company and Century 21 Real Estate Franchising.
Golf and fitness were John’s passions. In his earlier years, he ran 13 marathons and in retirement he enjoyed playing golf at Heritage Palms Golf & Country Club.
John and Carol loved to travel. Cruising was his favorite and he never found a slot machine he didn’t like.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Carol E. Miller; two children, Joanne Rainone (John) of Woodstock, GA and Jeffrey Miller (Robyn) of Minneapolis, MN; one nephew, Eric Miller (Brett Ann) of New York; five adored grandchildren, Justin, Jordyn, Jack, Jaimie and William; as well as one great granddaughter on the way.
No formal services are planned at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cypress Cove in support of the Resident Benevolent Care Fund, this fund is built on compassion and ensures that residents of the Cypress Cove community receive exceptional residential and health care services, despite outliving their resources.
