John Boyd Pisaris' Obituary
John Boyd Pisaris, 59, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2025, at his home. John was born on February 12, 1966, to Peter Pisaris and Jo Ashby in Fort Myers at Lee Memorial Hospital.
John was a very special person, always laughing, always smiling, always living life to the fullest. He was an outstanding lawyer who loved life and was filled with passions for his family, friends, fishing, golfing, hunting, and everything he encountered. His most enduring quality was his absolute love of life, his family, and many friends. He was loved by so many and will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
John is preceded in passing by his grandparents Boyd, Sunny, John, Catherine and his beloved stepfather, Wayne Ashby.
John leaves his loving memory with his cherished family: children Benjamin, Sarah (Matthew); father, Dr. Peter Pisaris (Diana); mother, Jo Rutan Ashby; fiance, Kim, uncle, Nicholas; siblings Stephanie, Susan (Tom), Chuck, Craig (Dede), Anthony (Rebecca), Christina (Matt) and his beloved nieces and nephews Daniel; Jennifer; Skyler; Luke; Chase; Chance (Hannah); Levi; Savannah; David and Clara. He also had a special place in his heart for Brittany; Correy; Jordan; Sidney; Rylie and Carson.
John graduated from Upper Arlington High School in Columbus, Ohio. He went on to graduate from Hillsdale College and Case Western Reserve University School of Law. John became an associate attorney and then a partner in the law firm of Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur LLP in Columbus, Ohio. At Porter Wright, John practiced in the corporate and securities group. John relocated to Fort Myers in 2004 and joined Vertro as General Counsel and Secretary. He remained General Counsel and Secretary following an acquisition by Inuvo in 2012 through today.
John was a man filled with light, passion, and goodness. Everyone loved John! And John loved all of us right back! He was a deeply family-oriented man and absolutely loved and cherished his children Benjamin and Sarah. His first thought and concern was always his extended family and he deeply, lovingly, and constantly supported us all. John was loved by so many - his friends are too numerous to name. His bonds were close and heartfelt and lasting. John never met a stranger and always had a big smile and a helping hand for everyone. He was, quite simply, an amazing man.
In addition to his family and friends, John had so very many passions - he was a sportsman extraordinaire! Whether it was fishing; boating; diving; hunting; golf; or sports. John was extensively involved in all and fantastically good at everything he did. He even played football in high school and had a great love of the game.
John’s heart was full of love and bright anticipation and excitement for the amazing upcoming events this year. This included the marriage of his daughter Sarah to Matthew. As well as John and Kim’s own wedding later this year. Special love and heartfelt appreciation go to Kim. She entered John’s life and brought him a love and light that was truly amazing and beautiful. John and Kim were extraordinarily happy and looking forward to a beautiful loving future. We are so thankful John was so happy.
John’s family has entrusted Fort Myers Memorial Gardens with the tender care of his final arrangements. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, April 5th at 2 pm in the Chapel of Light at 1589 Colonial Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33907.
