John Wesley Scott's Obituary
John Wesley Scott, 83, passed away on July 28, 2014. Born December 15, 1930, to the late John and Sadie Scott of Fort Myers, Florida. He was a resident and business owner/operator of Scott’s Meats in Fort Myers. A true servant, Wes loved his family, fishing, and work. He was a long time member/deacon of Riverside Baptist Church and current member of Crossroads Baptist. Wes never met a stranger or made anyone feel unwanted or in the way. He was an honest businessman who generously gave to any in need, providing many family and friends with their first jobs. He was the type of boss who worked alongside his employees with kindness, showing them exactly the way “he needed” things to be done. His customers trusted him and came from all over South Florida to purchase the best meat and produce in town. He’d say, “The customer is ALWAYS RIGHT!” He is survived by the love of his life, of 63 years, Bertie Scott; three daughters: Sandy, Melanie (Dennis), and SuEllen (Dale); 10 grandchildren, 16 great children. His sisters Clarice and Betty. Preceded in death by his siblings Oscar, Alice, Louise and Josielee. Visitation will be held at 10am Saturday, August 2 at Crossroads Baptist Church with funeral services at 11am. A private family interment will be held at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts to honor the life of Wes Scott be given to Crossroads Baptist Scholarship Mission Fund, 10721 Palm Beach Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33905 or Hope Hospice, 9470 HealthPark Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907, (239)936-0555.
