John Joseph "Vince" Vinciguerra's Obituary
John Joseph “Vince” Vinciguerra, age 94, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida.
Born on May 18, 1931, in New York, New York, Vince was the beloved son of the late Liberato and Anna Vinciguerra. He grew up in New York and was a proud graduate of Brooklyn Technical High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Bradley University, where he also played football.
Vince honorably served his country in the United States Army and was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal for his service in Japan. Following his military service, he built a long and successful career as an engineer in the construction industry, a profession he approached with dedication, skill, and integrity.
A man of strong faith and principle, Vince was honored as a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was devoted to his family and took great joy in time spent with them. He also enjoyed playing golf, fine dining, and enthusiastically rooting for his favorite sports teams, the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley Vinciguerra; his children, John Vinciguerra II and Diana Johnson; and his cherished grandchildren, Eric Johnson and Ashley Smith.
Vince was preceded in death by his parents, Liberato and Anna Vinciguerra, and his siblings, Frank Vinciguerra, Camille Newland, Sarah Mahoney, and Joseph Vinciguerra.
Vince will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, veteran, and friend. His life was marked by service, hard work, and love for family, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 11:00 am.
Arrangements are being handled by Fort Myers Memorial Gardens.
