Johnnie R. Motes' Obituary
Johnnie R. Motes, age 72, of Apollo Beach, FL. Passed away October 29, 2025, at Gulf Coast Medical Center. He was born on February 24, 1953, in Fort Pierce, FL. The son of the late Pharis I. and Revulla (Street) Motes lived a life marked by deep love, loyalty and generosity. He attended Fort Pierce Central High School from 1967 to 1971.
In 1974, John met Geania Davis, it was love at first sight, their connection was instant and enduring. John and Geania, married on September 5, 1975, their partnership spanned 50 wonderful years. Their years were filled with love, laughter and shared dreams. John made the life-changing decision to join the Air Force, the love for his country, and to protect and honor his family was dear to his heart. John served for 23 years as a F-15 crew chief, while serving, John earned Humanitarian Service medal, Air Force Good Conduct medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Meritorious Achievement, Small arms expert, marksmanship ribbon/rifle, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, NCO Leadership School, during his legacy of service.
John’s love for his family was very special for him, his son Christopher Motes, adopted daughter’s April Rose Motes, and Nevaeh Grace Motes, grandson Devanẽ Storm Motes and granddaughter Serena Sky Motes.
John will be deeply missed by his brother George L. Motes, Rocklin, CA sister Judy Motes Jackson, Port St. Lucia, FL. and brother Pharis Irving Motes Jr. Fort Pierce, Fl.
John was a man of great heart, outgoing, sincere and loyal. He loved to go fishing, spending time outdoors, sports, volunteering for the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Operation BBQ Relief. John was a proud member of the Ruskin VFW, Ruskin Moose and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
John Motes, a man of boundless energy and intelligence, through his journey of 72 years, he touched many lives with his wisdom, stories, unwavering spirit and kindness.
John leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness and cherished memories. A memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at the Sarasota National Cemetery at 2:30pm.
