Jose M. Banderas' Obituary
Jose M. Banderas, 87 years of age, of Cape Coral, Florida passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013. Mr. Banderas was born October 2, 1925 in Ecuador, a son of the late Jose Banderas and Blanca Roman Banderas. Mr. Banderas retired from the Air Force of Ecuador after 32 years of service, and attained the rank of General. He was a highly decorated officer receiving numerous medals and awards which included the Legion of Merit Medal from his country. He was an honorary pilot of the United States Air Force and also had served as an Ambassador in Washington, DC for the Air Force. Mr. Banderas was dedicated to his family and was the happiest when spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of McGregor Baptist Church and had resided in Cape Coral for the past 16 years coming from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 64 years, Marcella Banderas of Cape Coral, FL; his children, Fernando (Monica) Banderas of Miami, FL, Pablo (Gladys) Banderas of Cape Coral, FL, Violeta (Robert) Davalas of Ft. Myers, FL and Giselle (Louis) Espinosa of Miami, FL; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Carlos Banderas of Miami, FL and his sisters, Alicia Lindsay of Los Angeles, CA and Lucy (Ivan) Cobo of Washington, DC. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 11, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the Worship Center at McGregor Baptist Church, 3750 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, Florida. Pastor Dan Allen will officiate.
