Jose Arturo Rivera's Obituary
Jose Arturo Rivera, 84, a longtime resident of Fort Myers, FL since 2000, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, October 13, 2024. He was born on November 21, 1939, in Puerto Rico, to the late Jose Rivera and Belen Diaz, Jose lived a life of exploration and devotion.
Jose earned his master’s degree in finance and dedicated most of his career to serving as a Program Officer with the United States Agricultural Department. His professional accomplishments were paralleled by a profound love for nature and adventure. He was an avid swimmer and lover of water, where he felt most at peace. His enthusiasm for the great outdoors saw him hiking, skiing, and traveling the world, experiencing life's wonders in many different cultures and landscapes.
Despite his myriad adventures, Jose's heart always returned to his family, who meant more to him than anything else. His spirit of adventure, deep love for his family, and kind nature will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his sister, Margery and nephew, David.
Jose is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Dina Rivera; three adored children, William Rivera of Fort Myers, FL, Margery Carapella (Damien) of Wesley Chapel, FL and David Rivera (Nikki) of Centerton, AR; five grandchildren, Joseph, Nicole, Alexis, Christian and Nina; three great grandchildren; as well as many extended family members and friends.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated 12 NOON, Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL . The family will receive friends for a time of visitation from 11:30 AM until the service time at the funeral home. Following the services Jose will be placed in the Green Lea Garden of Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
