Joseph "Jake" Blackburn's Obituary
Surrounded by his three daughters, Joseph ?Ç£Jake?Ç¥ Blackburn, 99, went home to be with the Lord on June 10, 2012.?á He was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Blackburn, his son, Tyrone Blackburn, and five sisters.?á He is survived by his daughters, Jo Fain, Joy (Larry) Hart, and Silvia Blackburn, and one sister, Louise Pelham. ?á?á?á?á Jake moved from the Florida panhandle to southwest Florida in 1947, working with C.J. Jones in Jerome, FL and Immokalee, FL.?á He ran grocery stores in Jerome and Immokalee, and later in Ft. Myers, FL.?á He eventually owned his own stores in Immokalee, and Dothan, AL. ?á?á?á?á Jake is also survived by eight grandchildren: Tammie Blackburn, Shelly Coumalatsos, Jimmy (Ann-Elizabeth) Williams, Ty (Virginia) Blackburn, Fletcher Blackburn, Suzanne (Jason) Arrington, Rick Hart, and Billy (Dawn) Hart.?á He also has twenty-one adored great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. ?á?á?á?á Jake enjoyed many friendships over the years and treasured his loving family.?á He loved his daily quiet times reading God?ÇÖs word.?á He loved fishing in his younger days, and enjoyed working in the yard and planting a garden well into his 90s.?á He amazed everyone with his quick step, high energy, and ready hugs. ?á?á?á?á Jake?ÇÖs memorial service, officiated by Pastor Gray Foshee, will be held Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Ft.
