Joseph Boyle's Obituary
Joseph M. Boyle passed peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2022, in Fort Myers, FL. Joseph was born September 24, 1932, to Michael and Margaret Boyle in Detroit, Michigan.
Joe’s parents immigrated to Michigan from Ireland near the turn of the century and settled in Dearborn, Michigan. As an adolescent, Joe was a bit of a wild man so his father‘s advice was that he join the service to find some discipline. Joe had great respect for his father and he joined the Coast Guard and found himself stationed in Portland, Maine where he met the love of his life and future wife, Peggy Murphy. With lots of effort and sweet talk, he convinced her to move back to Michigan with him after leaving the Coast Guard. They soon were married and started a family together. While working two jobs and going to school at night and his family growing quickly, Joe realized he needed to do more. Since he had an incredible gift of gab and amazing storytelling abilities, which he inherited from his father, sales was the best direction for him. His new career began selling driveways and parking lots for a small paving company. The sales exploded overnight for this little company and he quickly realized that he had the ability, knowledge, and the drive to open his own paving company. With a small loan from a bank and his father, Joe started J. Boyle, Inc. and his passion and drive for success was unstoppable. J. Boyle, Inc. shortly was one of the largest paving contractors in the state of Michigan securing high profile jobs such as Ford Motor Company corporate headquarters, Fairlane Towne Center, and countless Kmart stores and shopping centers. Joe knew he had the skills and desire to be the developer of these projects and not just the paving contractor, and he began doing both with great success.
After years of hard work he grew one company into several, in multiple states, he decided that he liked the concept of owning these commercial investment properties and not just building them for others. Joe started forming partnerships with private investors to acquire, hold, and manage investment grade real estate properties; and it wasn’t long before quite an impressive portfolio was created. Joe made impressive returns for all that were lucky enough to know and invest with him, and he was admired and respected by everyone that did business with him.
Joe retired to Florida full-time with his wife Peggy with whom he shared many hobbies such as boating, golf, and tennis. Boating was Joe’s longest running and biggest passion. Together they had a custom built yacht designed overseas and Joe and Peggy began traveling to many amazing locations with friends and family. Joseph Martin Boyle was a great man, father, husband, and business partner who will be remembered fondly and missed dearly by all that had the joy and pleasure of knowing him.
Joseph is preceded in passing by his parents and sister Margie.
Joseph leaves his loving memory with his survivors: loving wife Peggy Boyle, daughters Karen, Kathleen, and Tracy, sons Michael, and Joseph and eight grand children and three great grandchildren.
