Joseph Dennis Gilberti's Obituary
Joseph Dennis Gilberti, 63, passed away May 20, 2013 at his home on Fort Myers Beach. He was born December 14, 1949 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Vito and Angelina (Angelico) Gilberti.He came to Lee County in 2004 from Davie, Florida. He spent his career as a Civil Engineer for the state of Florida, Miami Dade County and then the City of Pembroke Pines Florida. His proudest achievements include designing the Marina on Biscayne Bay and the 79th Street overpass. He started a land development company with some of his life long friends and son, before retiring in Fort Myers Beach.Joseph enjoyed his life at the beach with his wife and dogs, Betsey and Buster. As a young father he always coached little league,he loved building things, collecting corvettes, cooking Italian food and doing everything for his wife and kids. In his retirement, he loved collecting DVD?ÇÖs, shopping at Walmart, watching the History Channel, traveling, and spoiling his grandkids. He was a true Italian and proud of it !Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Beverly; son, Joseph Gilberti, Jr. and his wife Christine of Tampa; daughter, Lisa Marie Baskett and her husband John of Austin, Texas; brothers, Carmine Gilberti and his wife Sandy of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Michael Gilberti of Pembrook Pines, Florida; grandchildren, Luciano, Roman, Kennedi, Gavin and Gage; and dogs, Betsy and Buster.There will be visitation at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM.
