Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Joseph A. Gioia, 81, of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Brooklyn, New York passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday October 22, 2025. Born February 29, 1944, in Brooklyn, New York.
Vice president of Chase Bank for over 25 years he retired to the sunshine state. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with family.
He was a card shark, a pool shark, loved to have a good time, and joke around. He was generous, always thinking of others first, was kindhearted, and loving.
Beloved husband of Kathleen M. Gioia. Loving father of four children Debra (Karl) Hank, Wendy (Jay) Thisted, Christopher (Karen) Madonna, and Lisa Reynolds. Cherished grandfather of Elizabeth (Scott) Richards, Mark (Ashley) Shernowitz, Ivy (Drayton) Pelham, Marcella Madonna, Mia Madonna, Matthew Hank, and great grandfather of Levi Shernowitz, Theo Pelham, and Emmett Pelham.
He is also survived by his brothers Frank (Susie) Gioia, Jerome (Patricia) Gioia and his brother and sister-in-law Michael and Constance Duerr.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life in his honor on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m.
