With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Joseph Nicholas Lagattuta, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the age of 57 in Fort Myers, Florida.
Joseph lived a life filled with simple pleasures and profound love. His greatest joy was spending time with his cherished wife, Dawn, sharing countless happy years together. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and companionship. He found immense peace and contentment in the quiet moments of life, whether it was casting a line while fishing, enjoying the serene beauty of nature at their beloved camp, or simply sharing conversation with loved ones and playing their dogs.
Born on October 26, 1967, in Lackawanna, New York, Joseph was known for his willingness to help other people who needed it. He helped many people in the community in which he had a house in Florida during the hurricanes. He also enjoyed bartending which he has done on and off for over 30 years. His demeanor belied a deep well of compassion and unwavering loyalty to his family and friends.
Joseph will be deeply missed by his wife of 13 years, Dawn Lagattuta, his children Angela, Jolene and Christina his stepchildren Jeffery Durick, Jennifer (Chris)Birmingham and Dana Durick. His siblings Anthony (Lisa), Daniel, Ronae, April, David and Tina (Tim) Farnham. Predeceased by his father Ronald Sr and stepmother Marge, Mother, Irene, brother Ronald Jr and stepson Daniel Durick. Many grandchildren and nieces and also a wide circle of friends who cherished his friendship and genuine.
