Joseph Daniel Marinaro's Obituary
Joseph Daniel Marinaro, 93, of Naples, FL, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and veteran, Joe lived a long, full life marked by service, entrepreneurship, and deep commitment to those he loved.
Born on July 13, 1932, in Morristown, NJ, Joe was the beloved son of the late Daniel Anthony and Mary (Parmigiani) Marinaro. A proud graduate of Morristown High School, he went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After his military service, Joe earned his bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University, made possible by the G.I. Bill.
Joe built a successful career in construction and hospitality. He served as President of JDM Construction Company and owned Smile's Restaurant & Bar in New Jersey. In 1984, he and his family relocated to Marco Island, FL, where he operated Misfits Marina on the Isle of Capri. Later, in 2003, Joe opened Kilwins on 5th Avenue in Naples—a cherished local establishment that continues to be operated by his family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sue Marinaro; their children, Jaime Marinaro and granddaughter Adriana Turner of Fort Worth, TX; Katy (Sean) Lannon and granddaughters Joie, Emerson, and Quinn Lannon of Tampa, FL; and Andrew Marinaro of Naples, FL. He is also survived by his children Stacy Marinaro, Joe Marinaro, and Stephanie Rees; grandchildren Trey, Trevor, and Allisyn Williams; Lindsay, Ian, and Dylan Rees; Christina Marinaro, Trish Vitiello, Amy Hall, Amanda Marinaro, and Joe Marinaro; and eight great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by his dear sister, Marie Leva of Marco Island, FL, as well as many cousins, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gerard "Jerry" Marinaro, and granddaughter, Jackie Marinaro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Ave. N., Naples, FL 34108. Burial will follow at Naples Memorial Gardens.
