Joseph Sgroi's Obituary
Joseph “Joe” Richard Sgroi, age 85 passed away on July 19th, 2024. He was born on February 19th, 1939 in Buffalo, NY. Joe graduated from Hutchinson Central Technical High School in 1957. After serving in the U.S. Navy as a signalman on the USS Boston, he married the love of his life Santina “Sandy” Marie (Cosmano) April 23, 1960. Together they raised their three children on the upper westside of Buffalo, NY., and Williamsville, NY. Joe worked for GM at the Chevy Tonawanda Engine Plant for 30 years before creating a successful consulting business for several suppliers of the Chevy plant for another 10 years. In retirement Joe and Sandy settled in Estero, Florida in 1999. Joe loved golf, photography, woodworking and bike riding.
He is predeceased by his parents Salvatore and Mary Sgroi, his brother Salvatore Sgroi. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Sandy Marie Sgroi (Cosmano), brothers-in-law Gerald Cosmano (Louise), and Anthony Cosmano. Children; John (Nancy), Joseph (Mary), and Joanne Polak (Richard), 7 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.
A Funeral service will be held on Thursday July 25th, 2024 at 9:30AM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with placement in the cemetery to follow.
