As Marji’s former companion, I have always been extremely touched by the way Diane and Joe included me in their family. As soon as I met them, I understood where Marji’s generosity, sense of hospitality, and great sense of humor came from. Often times, we joked about about the fact that her mom and dad threw more parties and were invited to more of them than we did! Their duo impressed us, and everyone around them.
I had a lot of affection for Joe, I immediately told Marji that he reminded me a lot of my own father, it was a very sweet feeling. Coming from Switzerland, his artistic talent with wood working impressed me, and what more was the way that sometimes, he and Diane combined their skills in lamp shades, among others. I was also very admirative of their boating and fishing experience, it was foreign to me and I thoroughly enjoyed the times they took me outta there!
Joe was one of the kind, as we all know it!:-) He will always have a very special place in my life.

Hilde and myself enjoyed to be in the company of Joe and Diane sharing interesting and funny stories. Joe was always interested, genuine and humble. He helped us settle as foreigners in Palm Isles and was never shy to lend us tools, give advice and help a hand. He was generous and good hearted. He gave us mango’s from his own garden. We spend numourous times together enjoying a restaurants or a bottle of wine. After we moved away, we realized that we’ve spent the best time of our life being a neughbor of Joes. He will be missed.
