Joyce Brown's Obituary
Joyce Brown of Fort Myers, FL went to be with her Lord Sunday, June 4, 2017. She was 94. She was born June 8, 1922 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada to the late Hazen MacDonald and Eva Scott MacDonald. She was born again in 1938 and began her faith walk with Christ. After meeting the man of her dreams, Dr. Donald R. Brown, D.D.S, they were married December 23, 1943.Between 1956 and 1976 she and her husband were active members with Highland Park Baptist church, Joyce and her husband, Dr. Brown, regularly hosted Men’s Prayer Breakfast meetings in their home from 1951-1952 where breakfast was served every Tuesday morning for 15 men for 2 years. She will get her reward. Between 1980 through 1985, Joyce was a speaker for the Christian Women’s Club in Michigan and Ohio. Along with her husband, they spent many leisure hours on the Great Lakes cruising on their own boat and ultimately all the way to Florida and back. They retired in Gaylord, MI in 1986.Joyce and Dr. Brown ultimately moved to Florida in 1986 where they became active in McGregor Baptist, Covenant Presbyterian and Naples Baptist churches for 15 years. They also served as counsellors to Intervarsity Christian Fellowship – Edison Community College of Fort Myers from 1991 to 1995. After a life of God-given health and joyous time of Christian Service, they moved on to Shell Point for their last home on this earth. Even then she volunteered her time and talents with the Shellpoint community as she fed Alzheimer’s patients and knitted afghans for patients and veterans. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 + years, Donald R. Brown, D.D.S. (November 18, 2014). She leaves behind to cherish her memory, their daughters, Barbara (Keith) Carlson of Kinnelon, NJ and Nancy (Tracy) Calloway of Simpsonville, SC; five grandchildren, Susan, Donald, Laura, Jonathan and Jeremy and six great grandchildren, Willow Joyce, Meadow, Julia, Jonathan, Madeline Joyce and Liberty.A celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Arbor Chapel at Shell Point, 15100 Shell Point Blvd, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home is serving the family.
