Joyce Ann Christie's Obituary
Joyce Ann Christie, our cherished wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on October 18th, just five days after her 78th birthday, surrounded by her family. Joyce’s courageous four and a half year battle with cancer ended as she went home to be with her Heavenly Father.Joyce Ann Tepe was born on October 13, 1938 to Stanley and Pansy Tepe in Detroit, Michigan. Joyce spent her childhood in Royal Oak, MI and attended Shrine of the Little Flower grade and high school, graduating in 1956. Joyce married fellow high school classmate Robert Charles Christie in June 1961. The couple settled in Ohio and were blessed with three boys. After moving to Boulder, CO in 1977, Joyce enjoyed her work as a victim advocate with the Boulder Police Department as well as a personal shopper for the May D&F Department Store. Joyce’s welcoming nature led to lots of kids calling her “mom”. The house was always alive with her kid’s friends which she enjoyed immensely. Many of these friends enjoyed spending holidays at the Christie home as Joyce always made room for more at the table. Joyce and Robert moved to Alpine, WY in 1995. In addition, they were blessed to spend winters in their home in Fort Myers, FL in the last 12 years.Joyce loved many things – her beloved husband Robert, her sons Kevin, John, and David; her grandchildren, caring for her flower gardens and animals, and cooking for her family. But above all these, she loved one thing most of all. Joyce loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a faithful follower of Christ and devoted Catholic who frequently prayed to St. Theresa of the Little Flower for guidance.Joyce held her family close through prayer and phone calls. She enjoyed having her family home with her as well as being a part of her grandchildren’s lives. Joyce leaves behind a legacy of love through her husband, Robert Christie; son Kevin (and Chandra) Christie of Valrico, FL; son John (and Diann) Christie of Pueblo, Colorado; son David (and Chris) Christie of Brewster, NE; as well as many grandchildren Josh, Jacob, Lanae, D, Justin, Brandon, Dylan, Hannah, Jenna, Luke, and Sara and great-grandchildren LeAndra, Margarito, and Hadley.St. Columbkille Catholic Church at 12171 Iona Road, Fort Myers, FL, will host a Rosary at 7pm Friday evening on October 28 and the Funeral Mass at 11am on Saturday the 29th.
