Joyce Patricia Glasser's Obituary
Joyce Patricia Glasser, 91 years of age, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. Joyce was born in Grimsby, England, on March 17, 1926, daughter of the late James Carey and Letitia Davies Carey. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Glasser, sister Barbara Carey Bonzol, and sister-in-law, Paulette Carey. Joyce was an English War Bride. She met her husband, Edward Glasser, in 1944, during WWII in her hometown of Grimsby where they were married. After the war in 1946 she left England and joined her husband in Allentown, PA, where their two children Barbara Ann and Edward were born. In 1961 they moved to Dundalk, Md, where she worked and retired from the Baltimore Police Department for over 25 years. Around 1986 they came to Fort Myers as snowbirds and eventually spent most of the year in FL and then became permanent residents. They were married 68+ years. Joyce was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother and she enjoyed line-dancing and ballroom dancing. She had a passion for gardening and always had the most beautiful roses in her garden. When the TBPA (Transatlantic Brides and Parents Association) formed she became an active member with other War Brides.She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Barbara Ann Yost and her husband Jack; Edward James Glasser and his wife Gayle; four grandchildren, Nicole Yost Isom and her husband Chad; Krystle Yost Dallas and her husband Mike; Rachel Glasser and Garrett Glasser; a great-granddaughter, Breanne Isom, and Joyce’s brother James Carey of Corpus Christi, TX. When her family remembers Joyce, they use these words to describe her: loving mother and MeMe, funny, caring, strong willed, life of the “party”, clever, creative, goofy, bargain hunter, crafty, loyal friend and many more. She was one-of-a-kind and words cannot describe the loss her family is feeling. There will be a private family service at a later date. She will interred with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va. The family requests no flowers.
