Juan "Tute" Santiago's Obituary
Juan Santiago (affectionately known as Tute) was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, before relocating to Philadelphia, PA in 1954 where he met his beloved wife Josephine Torrens, and enjoyed his retirement years in Lehigh Acres, Florida.
Tute was a member of the Carpenter’s Union in Philadelphia with Local 359 for 30 years. He was a skilled cabinet maker and carpenter, creating beautiful pieces with his hands. He was a passionate Philadelphia sports fan and a former semi-pro baseball player for the American Legion. Tute also had a fondness for nature and enjoyed spending time feeding birds and tending to his garden.
Tute was a member of the Cursillo Movement and Holy Name Society in the early 1950s at Our Lady of The Miraculous Medal (La Milagrosa) where he was married and celebrated his children’s baptisms. He was on the Meals on Wheels Committee distributing meals to the homebound of Lehigh Acres Florida.
Juan is survived by his wife Josephine of 66 years and children Rita Santiago, Teresa Tocher (Scott), John Santiago (Elizabeth) David Santiago and their children and loving relatives.
Juan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
