Judith Ann Hardy's Obituary
Judith “Judy” Ann Hardy, 94, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at The Elite ALF at Cape Coral. Formerly of Kokomo, Indiana, she made Cape Coral her cherished home since 1976.
Born January 13, 1931, in Delaware County, Indiana, Judy was the daughter of the late Charles A. McCormack and Marcella E. (Jackson) Fred. She was a proud graduate of Kokomo High School, Class of 1949, and an active member of the Phi Beta Psi Sorority. At just 22, Judy served as secretary to the Mayor of Kokomo—an early testament to her drive, grace, and professionalism.
After relocating to Florida, Judy and her husband, William E. “Bill” Hardy, along with their son, Mike, owned and operated Decorator’s Workshop in Cape Coral, where she poured her talent and creativity into the business. She was a faithful and devoted member of both Northside Christian and New Hope Christian Church congregations, taking part in many church ministries, especially The Women’s Circle. Her interests were many—an avid reader, traveling, being a gifted cook, reading her Bible, and a love for her home state of Indiana. But above all, Judy treasured time spent with her family.
Judy is survived by her loving children, Greg (Rosa) Stevens of Rocksprings, TX; Shelly (Jeff) Hampton of Cape Coral, FL; and Jeff Harvey of San Antonio, TX; Steve (Shannon) Hardy of Ft. Wayne, IN; Mike (Terri) Hardy of South Bend, IN and Sue (Tim) Gulley of Goshen, IN. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Hardy; her stepsister, Barbara Thrasher; and her beloved grandson, Ryan Michael Hardy.
Both Judy and Shelly were extremely grateful of the loving and committed care she received from the staff of The Elite Assisted Living Facility of Cape Coral, as well as the staff of Hospice VITAS.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907. Her family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 AM until the time of service. Entombment and a celebration of life will follow.
