Judith (Judy) Barnes Brock's Obituary
Judith (Judy) Barnes Brock, 84, of Fort Myers, FL and Woburn, MA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 8th due to a heart incident following a stent procedure.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Chapel in Lexington, MA with a lunch reception to follow at the church.
Judy loved well and was well loved. The devoted and loving wife to Larry for 63 years, Judy was a caring and selfless mother, sister, and grand and great grandmother. Surviving her are her three children, David, Stephen, and Sharon, sister Gerayne Tomkinson, ten grandchildren, and one great grandson. She was also the sponsor mother of Ry Bin, whom she enveloped into the family. She joins her parents, Beulah and Russell Barnes, and daughter Karen who preceded her to heaven.
A graduate of New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing and Simmons College, Judy met Larry at Tremont Temple while they were college students. Married on June 6, 1960, she and Larry had a deep and powerful love for each other and were seldom seen apart. Together, they loved to explore the quaint towns of New England, especially those on the seaside with a good clam shack and ice cream. As snowbirds, they enjoyed meandering through the Eastern states on their annual migrations, living the motto, “it’s not the destination but the journey.”
Known as a powerful prayer warrior, Judy exemplified a godly woman (Proverbs 31:10-31). She had an unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior and was a devoted servant to her churches, Grace Chapel and the Village Church, and to her community, bringing the love of Jesus to her family, friends, and strangers alike.
While they mourn Judy’s passing, her family is blessed by the impact she had on their lives and they embrace the future and hope we have in our Lord (Jeremiah 29:11) and the peace He provides that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:6).
In Judy’s memory, donations can be made to the South Fort Myers Food Pantry and World Relief.
