Judith Gail Kern-Erickson's Obituary
Judith Gail Kern-Erickson, 65, of Fort Myers, FL, died at 1:31 PM, Monday, September 22, 2014 at her residence. Private services will be at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Judith was born February 1, 1949 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Francis William and Gail V. (Dawson) Kern. She married David Lawrence Erickson. She retired after 35 years in the financial services industry. She served as an operations manager at both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in Washington DC. She was an avid golfer, an outstanding artist and a wonderful cook. She loved to entertain guests. Judith leaves behind her husband, David; son, Michael Chapman of Boca Raton, FL; daughter, Megan Chapman-Evans of Paradise Valley, AZ; step-daughters Cynthia Smith of Falls Church, VA, Stephanie Fulford of St. Louis, MO; sisters, Roberta Schacher of Athens, GA, Marilyn Ladner of Ingliss, FL, Beverly Webster of Atlanta, GA and nine grandchildren. She is preceded by her parents and her brother Kent Kern.In celebration of Judi’s life, her husband Dave invites their wonderful friends to a reception this Saturday evening, September 27th from 6 to 8 PM. The reception will be held at their resident complex, The San Tropez Condominium; 2745 First Street, Fort Myers, Florida. Casual Attire please.In lieu of flowers, Dave requests donations to Judi’s special project, The C.F. Foundation; 3001 S.W. College Road, Ocala, FL 34474. If you wish to make a donation when attending Saturday, please make your check payable to C.F. Foundation and mark on your check “Dreamkeeper’s Fund.” This organization assists at Florida Central College (where Judi’s sister is Provost) who is at risk for staying in college due to emergency situations that life can bring.
