Judith Perlstein's Obituary
Judith “Judy” Perlstein, 87, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 6, 2019 in Ft. Myers, FL. Judy was born in New York City, NY on March 20, 1932 to Milton and Beatrice Goldstein, now deceased. She graduated from Smith College in 1953 and that same week married the love of her life, Bob. After living in Japan during Bob’s military service they returned to Bergen County, NJ in 1955 where they raised their two children, Jeffrey and Cathy. Before Bob fully retired, they cruised down the intra-coastal waterway in search of the ideal place to settle; in 1982 they chose to put their roots down in Sanibel, FL. Judy was active in the Lee County Women’s Tennis League and with the Southwest Florida Symphony. They also were members of Temple Bat Yam, St. Charles Yacht Club, The Dunes, Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation, Sanibel-Captiva Community Foundation, Sanibel-Captiva Power Squadron, Big Arts, Crow and various other island organizations. Along with her parents, Judy was preceded in death by her brother, Gabriel Goldstein.Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bob” Perlstein of Ft. Myers, FL; two children, Jeffrey Perlstein (Janet) of Haworth, NJ and Cathy Chern of Ft. Myers, FL; three grandchildren, Andrew, Robert and Caroline.A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in loving memory of Judith Perlstein.Arrangements for final care have been entrusted to Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers, Florida 33907, (239) 936-0555.
