Judy Nell McGinty's Obituary
Judy Nell McGinty, 86, of Fort Myers, Florida passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025. Judy was born Aug 5, 1938 in Hammond Indiana.
She met her soon to be beloved husband Thomas E McGinty after meeting him at a church roller skating party for her sophomore year of high school. They married 2 years later after graduating on May 25, 1957. They cherished 46 years of marriage before Thomas' passing in (2003).
Judy worked for Indiana Bell Telephone in Indiana and raised 3 children, Jeff, Janet, and Jason. She moved to Brandon Florida in 1973 when Tom took a sales engineer job with Cameron and Barkley in Tampa. Tom and Judy fell in love with Florida on their honeymoon and promised each other they’d move there one day. She was a loving and very involved grandmother to 6 grandkids Devin, Savannah, Caity, Josh, Jessica, and Amber. She was also a great grandmother to Regan and Parker. She was very active in the church from a young age as a church secretary, running VBS and singing also in the choir. She also played the accordion and organ for many years. She gave her kids and grandkids a strong Christian faith. After working for the church she went back to her telephone days and worked for GTE data services before retiring to Hernando Florida.
After the passing of her beloved husband, Tommy, she moved closer to family in Fort Myers in 2015. During the end of her life she battled with dementia. Even though the dementia took her memory, it never took her beautiful disposition, her politeness, and her constant caring for others. Everyone who knew her would say how polite, and sweet she was. She was incredibly generous, always putting others before herself.
