Julie Elizabeth Moffett McCarter's Obituary
Julie M. McCarter, 86, of Ft. Myers, FL passed away on March 8, 2019 at Hope Hospice in Ft. Myers. Julie Elizabeth Moffett was born on March 15, 1932 in Swampscott, Massachusetts to John T. Moffett and Freda (Davis) Moffett. She was raised in both Massachusetts and Pennsylvania. Julie graduated from Bowling Green State University where she joined the Phi Mu Sorority and made several life-long friends.After a year of teaching elementary school in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Julie married John Blackburn McCarter on August 27, 1955. They made their home in Cleveland, Ohio, before moving to Parma and later Brecksville, Ohio where the couple raised four children. They lived in Bristol, Indiana for several years and after John retired, they split their time between Bella Vista, Arkansas and Fort Myers. After John’s death in 2003, Julie lived full-time in Ft. Myers.Julie was a wonderful mother, wife, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a gifted crafter and prolific needlework stitcher, enthusiastic traveler, enjoyed gardening, reading, solving puzzles and taking cruises. Her best talent was as a mother who was always there. Her big smile will be remembered by all who knew her.Julie was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, nephew Ken Moffett and her sisters-in-law.Julie is survived by her four children, Judy (Joe) Modica, James (Kelley) McCarter, Jeffrey (Kristy) McCarter and Jonathan (Kathy) McCarter; six grandchildren, Matthew and Allison Modica, Jack, Will, Max and Ella McCarter; two brothers, David Moffett of Pasadena, CA and Donald Moffett of Sequim, WA; as well as her niece, Sharon (Michael) Vinceri.Arrangements for a Memorial Service and interment are being planned for later this spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope Hospice of Ft. Myers or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
