Julio Enrique Rivera Colon's Obituary
Julio Enrique Rivera Colon, 71, a resident of Cape Coral, FL since 2023, formerly of Biloxi, MS, passed away Friday, November 24, 2023 in Naples, FL. He was born the third child of ten on December 2, 1951 in Guayama, Puerto Rico.
After moving to the mainland in the mid-sixties with his family, Julio attended Mays Landing, NJ schools and was a graduate of Oakcrest High School. In memory of Julio, a man who although was marked by the complexities of life, was able to earn his Bachelor of Business Administration degree at the University of Turabo of Puerto Rico. He built his living working in the casino industry for a substantial amount of his life. Julio had a love for sea related activities, as he was an avid deep-sea fisherman and diver in his prime. His love for diving was passed on to his children as they grew into their adult lives. As a final message to their father, his children wish to convey; “We are going to be ok” and “We’re going to make you proud”.
He is predeceased by his parents, Ezequiel Rivera, Sr. & Lydia Esther Rivera Colon, older sister Zulma and younger brothers Jose, Tony, and Freddy Rivera.
Julio is survived by his children, Jules Rivera, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL and Angela Rivera of TX; grandchildren, Jules Rivera, Jr., and Emma Santiago as well as siblings Ezequiel Rivera, Jr. (Sara) of Bluffton, NC, Lydia Rivera Serrano (Wilfredo) of Cape Coral, Louis A Rivera (Wedylia) of Atlantic City, NJ, Lydia E. Rivera of Chicago, IL and Yolanda James of Dover, DE. He is further survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Ft. Myers, FL 33907 on January 27, 2024 at 11:00AM.
