June A. McGarity's Obituary
June McGarity, 85, of Fort Myers died peacefully on Tuesday at her home, surrounded by her family. June was a most beloved wife of 62 years, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and daughter. In addition, she was particularly loved within the St Cecelia’s Catholic Community for her warm, outgoing personality and her tireless volunteer work in support of the Bereavement Ministry, Hospitality Ministry, Sick and Homebound Ministry and Prayer Shawl Ministry.She was born June Ann Gallo on July 31, 1929 in Throop, PA 15 minutes after her identical twin sister Joan, to parents Frank and Amelia Gallo. She grew up in Fleetville, PA. June graduated from Benton Township High School, attended Business College in Scranton, then moved to Washington D.C. where she worked for the FBI. It was in Washington that she met her husband and the one true love of her life, Richard McGarity, a handsome young Marine stationed at Quantico, VA. Upon Richard’s discharge from the Marine Corps, they moved to Richard’s home state of Florida. It was in Florida where June gave birth to four children and Fort Myers where she and Richard chose to raise their family.June most loved spending time with her family and friends in Fort Myers or at their vacation home in North Carolina. Her faith and her church family were precious to her, and were at the center of her life, along with her family.She had a fun, energetic, and playful spirit. She never missed an opportunity to dance, and would continue as long as the music was playing.June is preceded in death by her beloved son Greg, twin sister Joan Perry, brother Joseph Gallo, sisters Rose Jakubos, Amelia Dohanich, Lucille Matalavy, and Francis Gallo.June is survived by her husband Richard, daughters Karen Bochette and Tracy Hadsock (Lee), and son Rick McGarity (Stacy), grandchildren: Brittany Robbins (Zeke), Brian Bochette, Shane McGarity, Brendan McGarity, Lindsay Ulwick (Tony), Ashley McGarity, Autumn McGarity-Gray (Tom), Savannah Hadsock, MacKenzie Ammann (CJ), Garit Hadsock, and Landon Hadsock. great grandchildren: Kasie McGarity, Tessa McGarity, Bryson Robbins and Owen Robbins. brothers: Jack Gallo (Muriel), Frank Gallo, Gerald Gallo (Sharon), and sister, Shirley Kirlin (Ron).Family will receive visitors Thursday, July 9, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens, 1589 Colonial Blvd. A funeral mass will be held at St Cecelia’s Catholic Church, 5632 Sunrise Dr., on Friday, July 10, at 10:00 AM.
