June Stone Moseman's Obituary
June Stone Moseman, 89, of Fort Myers, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2025. She was born on January 28, 1936, in Washington, D.C., to the late Thomas and Rose Rock.
June is survived by her four devoted daughters: Sherry Rizi (Bob Hulka) of Sarasota, FL; Karen Ashwill (Tom Ashwill) of Fort Myers, FL; Lee Ann Ralph (Mike Ralph) of Estero, FL; and Michelle Barboza (Michael Barboza) of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Thomas Rock (Jeri Rock) of Hedgesville, WV; 13 cherished grandchildren; 26 treasured great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald “Ronnie” Stone; her second husband, Norman Moseman; her mother, Rose Rock Stebnitz; her father, Thomas Rock Sr.; her stepfather, Bud Stebnitz; her brother, Anthony “Tony” Rock; and her sweet great-grandson, Tate Benjamin Stewart. It brings her family peace to know she is reunited in heaven with the loved ones who passed before her.
June attended Bladensburg High School in Maryland, where she was active in the National Honor Society, Student Council, Cheerleading and numerous other activities. It was there she met her high school sweetheart, Ronnie. Her yearbook quote read, “She smiles for the sake of smiling, laughs for no reason but fun”—a perfect description of her joyful spirit and spontaneous, sassy humor.
After graduation, June worked for the U.S. Immigration Department. She married Ronnie on May 23, 1954, and they welcomed their first daughter in Washington, D.C. before relocating to Fort Myers, where they grew their family with three more daughters. June worked at First Federal Savings and Loan and later alongside Ronnie in his construction company until the late 1990s. However, her most treasured roles were as a mother, homemaker, grandmother, and friend. She was a beautiful example of faith, love, and generosity.
A woman of deep faith and prayer, June volunteered throughout the years at her daughters’ and grandchildren’s schools, with Girl Scouts, Hospice, and at her church. She absolutely adored her grandchildren—making every birthday and holiday special with thoughtful, heartfelt gifts. Her quick wit and surprising punchlines brought joy and laughter to all who knew her.
In 1980, June was introduced to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina by Ronnie and quickly fell in love with the area around Banner Elk and Sugar Mountain. She passed that love on to her family, who now cherish it just as deeply.
In her late 40s, June returned to school at Edison College, proving that learning has no age limit. She even took golf as her physical education class, a sport she continued to enjoy for years.
In 2006, June met her second love, Norman Moseman, and they married on November 24, 2007. They spent many happy years traveling, often exploring the U.S. together in their RV.
June cherished her Sicilian heritage, passed down from her mother, Rose. In 2010, she took her four daughters on a treasured trip to Italy and Sicily, visiting her mother’s hometown of Biancavilla. Her heritage also shone in her cooking—she was an incredible cook who brought her family together around the table with warmth and love.
A memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Our Lady of Light Catholic Community (19680 Cypress View Drive, Fort Myers), followed by a Celebration of Life reception at 12:00 p.m. in the banquet room at The Olive Garden (12870 S.
