Karen K. Labruyere Donathan's Obituary
Karen Kelly LaBruyere Donathan, a beloved resident of Fort Myers, Florida, passed on May 26, 2024, at the age of 65. Born on December 27, 1958, in Houma, Louisiana, Kelly brought warmth, kindness, and elegance to everyone she encountered.
A true Southern Belle, Kelly never left her bedroom without being impeccably put together. Her grace and charm were matched only by her love for life’s simple pleasures. She found joy in cooking and baking, creating delicious meals that brought family and friends together. She was bubbly and the life of the party, often smiling big and laughing loudly. Hallmark movies, romance novels, dance shows, and a good game of solitaire were her escape, transporting her to worlds of love and adventure.
Paired with her love of all things food, wine, performance, and shopping, travel became a passion for Kelly. She was a frequent traveler to Disney World, reveling in the magic with her family. She loved to visit her daughter in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and go on trips to D.C. with her son for fine dining experiences. Her favorite travels included cultural adventures like her anniversary trips to Napa Valley and Italy with her husband. These trips all became a way for her to celebrate life and its many facets.
But it wasn’t just about glamour and entertainment. Kelly was a breast cancer survivor, a testament to her strength and resilience. Through it all, she maintained her selflessness and extended kindness to everyone she met. Her compassion touched hearts, leaving a lasting impact on those fortunate enough to know her.
Kelly is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Bill Donathan; her adored children, Rhett Donathan and Kaysee Donathan; mother, Dolores LaBruyere; two sisters, Holyn Bradford and Monica LaBruyere; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 1589 Colonial Blvd., Fort Myers, FL 33907.
Kelly will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of sharing in her vibrant spirit.
